Committee Work

Joining a committee is an opportunity to make new and good friends among other volunteers and to help strengthen the fabric of the North Leaside community. Volunteer-run committees provide programs within the church, enhance the worship service and keep the church running.

Adult Education

Assesses educational opportunities for adults in the congregation and the resources necessary to meet them

Children and Youth

Provides guidance in planning activities for children and youth and provides leadership in recruiting leaders for all aspects of the children and youth program.

Congregational Life

Co-ordinates membership activities, oversees special events, and communication.

Finance

Works with the Treasurer to manage the finances of Northlea United Church.

Ministry and Personnel

Oversees the relationship between the church staff and the congregation.

Outreach

Helps the congregation put its faith into action in the areas of participation, contribution, communication and education. The Outreach committee introduces fundraisers, community activities, educational speakers and events, and makes the congregation aware of the larger work done by the Mission and Service division of the United Church of Canada.

Pastoral Care

Works closely with the minister to maintain contact with members who have special pastoral needs, such as illness or bereavement or other significant life events.

Property

Looks after the care, maintenance and use of all church property and equipment.

Stewardship

Identifies volunteer interests and abilities, and asks for financial commitment to the life and work of the congregation.

Worship and Music

Provides direction about worship services and music.

Floral and Decorating

The Floral and Decorating Committee put their considerable artistic talents to work making the church look beautiful all year round.
